DESCRIPTION:The Community Policing Team we are committed to engaging with residents in our local villages and talking about some of the issues affecting those living and working there.\nMembers of the Chippenham Neighbourhood Policing team will be conducting a Rural Engagement week between 17th and 21st July 2023.\nIn conjunction with their internal partners\, they will be visiting our area in their exhibition vehicle and we’d urge everyone to go along and meet the team.\nThey will be available to offer crime prevention advice\, information on community watch schemes and would love to have a chat so they can learn more about the issues affecting you and any concerns you may have.\nThey do appreciate that not everybody will be able to make these times\, and will be looking to facilitate additional evening events during in the coming months.

We will be reviewing the format of this annual event that the Parish Council are required to host and would welcome any comments on it – please contact the Clerk. \nWednesday 24 May 2023 – 7.30pm to 9pm in the Sutton Benger Village Hall.  The event is hosted by the Parish Council (but it’s not a Parish Council Meeting) and it is a great opportunity for you to find out what’s been going on and to raise any issues or concerns that you may have relating to the local community.  There will be an update on the B4069 Lyneham Banks and our new Speed Indicator Device. You can walk about and talk to other Community Groups whilst enjoying a glass of wine and nibbles. All residents are welcome!

SUMMARY:Test run of Emergency Alert System
DESCRIPTION:A new Emergency Alert System has been created to warn the public if there is a nearby danger to life. A test run of this service has now been scheduled for Sunday\, 23 April 2023. \nEmergency Alerts are messages sent to all compatible 4G and 5G mobile phones when there’s a danger to your life\, health\, or property in the area you’re located. The service doesn’t require your location or phone number and only the government and the emergency services can send the alerts. If you don’t have a mobile\, you’ll still be kept informed through other channels. If you get an Emergency Alert on your phone\, you’ll hear a loud\, siren-like sound. A message on your screen will tell you about the emergency and how best to respond. \nThe Cabinet Office has released a toolkit with key messages and digital assets to help you inform and prepare your communities for this.
